Birds falls at the fourth number on the world’s most favorite pets list, following fish, cats and dogs. The majority of these pet birds are attractive, beautiful, Colorful parrots.

Parrots’ scientific name is Psittaciformes. They are also known as psittacines. There are roughly 393 species of this colorful bird. Beautiful Parrots are found mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. Some parrots also like to live in snowy weather.  Few of cold-climate parrots are maroon-fronted parrots, thick-billed parrots and keas.

Their attractive attributes like beautiful fluffy feathers, entertaining personalities and mimicking skills make them one of the most desirable pets.  Due to their adorable characteristics Parrots are high in demand. This exotic species is becoming endangered because birds’ traffickers capture them from wild and trade them globally.

Mostly these Beautiful Parrots like to socialize and get attention from their human friends. When these beautiful parrots feel they are ignored or get bored they start plucking their colorful pretty feathers.

Features that are common in all parrots are a curvy pointed beak.  Their beaks color depends on the spices they belong to. Their beaks are very strong and tough enough to crack nuts and grind grains. They are omnivores which means they can eat anything ranging from meat to fruits and nuts to grains.

Parrots are zygodactyl which means they have four toes on each foot, two at the front and two at the back of side of the foot. The shape and structure of their feet let them have a strong grip on tree branches and a good hold on their food.

These beautiful parrots vary in size and weight. In size, they range from about 3.5 to 40 inches and their average weight is between 64 g to 1.6 kg. The world’s heaviest type of parrot is the kakapo, which can weigh up to 4 kg. The smallest parrot is the pygmy parrot, which is only about 3 inches tall and weighs just 0.4 ounces.

Widely known and kept as pet Parrot species include conures, macaws, amazon parrots, cockatoos, greys, lovebirds, cockatiels, budgerigars, caiques, parakeets, and Eclectus, Pionus, and Poicephalus species.

No matter what color, size, shape or breed they are these intelligent and beautiful birds make daily life routine more happening and colorful with their cute and silly acts.
